Kanjidle is a guessing game inspired by the famous Wordle, but adapted for those who study or appreciate the Japanese language. Instead of guessing a word, the goal is to guess a secret kanji using detailed hints.
Unlike other games of the genre, there is no daily limit – you can play as many times as you want, exploring and learning at your own pace.

How It Works

The mission is simple: discover the right kanji in a few attempts.
With each guess, you receive visual feedback that indicates how close you are to the answer:

  • Green: exact match.
  • Yellow: partial match (for example, sharing some reading).
  • Red: no match.

Clues and Information

Each attempt reveals data that helps to deduce the target character:

  • Kanji: shows the attempted character, with color indicating general proximity.
  • Meaning: informs whether there is a relationship in meaning with the target kanji.
  • On’yomi and Kun’yomi Readings: indicates coincidences in Sino-Japanese readings (On) or native readings (Kun).
  • School Grade: compares the Japanese school grade in which the kanji is taught.
  • JLPT: checks if the proficiency level matches.
  • Number of Strokes: indicates whether the target kanji has more, fewer, or the same number of strokes.
  • Frequency: compares the usage popularity of the kanji.
  • Classification: shows the category (Jōyō, Jinmeiyō, etc.).

Why Play?

In addition to being fun, the Kanjidle helps to:

  • Reinforce memory: constant practice improves kanji retention.
  • Study lightly: dynamic learning, without the monotony of flashcards.
  • Explore details: learn the readings, strokes, and categories of each kanji.
  • Compete with friends: create personalized challenges and see who masters more.
